This shouldn’t come as news to anyone, but as we stated in yesterday’s blog it’s worth mentioning again – this summer has been absolutely, miserably hot. Worse yet, the heat doesn’t look to be letting up any time this month – hope your air conditioner has been holding up! Now that summer is in the home stretch and it’s almost time to pack up that air conditioner for the season, here are three things you should still look out for that will signal your AC is about to burn out:
1) Your AC takes longer to cool
If your AC requires more cooling time to get your home to the right temperature, this is a sign of a big problem. While sometimes it could just be that your AC is low on coolant, it could also mean you have rusty or corroding pipes and may need an entirely new system.
Fortunately, air conditioner replacement doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Cooper Climate Control can install a brand new, high-efficiency air conditioner that will save you money and cool your home faster than your current unit!
2) Your air conditioner blows lukewarm air
The air that blows out of your vents should be a consistent, cold temperature. Basically, your AC works by blowing cold air into your home repeatedly until it reaches the proper temperature. What this means is if the air coming out of the vents is not as cold as usual, you could have a serious problem! The first thing you should try to do is change the air filter. If this doesn’t work, call Cooper Climate Control, your heating & cooling specialists for an AC inspection!
3) Replacing your filters doesn’t improve your airflow
As you may know, clogged filters are the number one cause of weak airflow and, in many cases, frozen air conditioners. If you feel like you have weak airflow coming from your AC, try to change the filters first. If this doesn’t work, call us right away! You could have a problem with your blower fan or something even more serious.
Now that summer’s almost over, you should pay special attention to your air conditioner. If you notice any of the above problems, or if you just want an air conditioner inspection, call Cooper Climate Control, your heating & cooling specialists!
