Anyone living in Arizona knows that having air conditioning is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. If you’ve ever had to endure a summer in Arizona when your air conditioning was operating at less than peak capacity, you know what it’s like to try to get comfortable when you’re simply too hot.
Air Compressors
In many cases, the problem with air conditioners that aren’t operating the right way is the air compressor needs to be replaced. The air compressor is considered to be the “heart” of the air conditioning system. There are various valves and pistons found inside the compressor, and over the course of time, these parts can actually begin to disintegrate, dispersing throughout the rest of the air conditioning unit.
Repair versus Replacement
Now, just because the air compressor isn’t working right doesn’t automatically mean it needs replacement. You might find out that you simply have a clutch or connector gone bad. That’s a fairly simple fix and can be handled by any professional contractor. On the other hand, if you’ve got a bad bearing in the compressor, you’re going to need to have the entire air conditioner compressor replaced.
Bad Seals
Sometimes, the seals in a compressor will start leaking. When this happens, Freon and air conditioning oil can get lost. Since the seals cannot simply be replaced, you’re going to need to go with a total air compressor replacement.
Going Professional
Occasionally, someone will try to save some money by attempting a do-it-yourself repair, rather than hiring a professional. For example, someone might purchase some refrigerant and put it into their unit, assuming that’s all it’s going to take to fix the problem. Unfortunately, they haven’t addressed the actual problem. They’re treating a symptom. Until the problem is found and resolved, however, they’re going to constantly be dealing with a faulty air conditioner.
When you hire a professional contractor, you’ll have someone on hand who can actually do all the pressure checks needed for your air conditioner, making sure that things are operating as they should. If there is a bad compressor, the contractor will remove the refrigerant and make any necessary repairs. The contractor will also flush out any parts and debris from the unit that might be causing problems, put in refrigerant, and make sure that everything is running as it should.
When it comes to your air conditioning unit, it’s always best to let a professional take care of the situation.
