Two of the most important components of your AC unit are the fans. Whenever you run your air conditioning both of the fans operate constantly. Because the fans have so many moving parts there are plenty of things that can go wrong with them. Cooper Climate Control is the Valley Metro air conditioning repair contractor that you can call whenever you’re having issues with your AC. We have years of experience working on all kinds of AC systems. The fans are often the cause of many different repairs that we do and we thought it would be good to put together a quick list of some of the most common fan problems.
How Air Conditioning Systems Work
In order to be able to know what can go wrong with your AC fan it would be helpful to know exactly what they did. Two fans are required to achieve air conditioning in your home: one inside and one outside. The inside one is located in the heat pump and it blows warm air over a series of coils that contain refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs the heat of the air passing over it which is how the air coming into your home gets cool. The outside fan is located inside the condensing unit and it is used to exhaust the heat out of the refrigerant into the outdoor air.
Air Conditioning Making Strange Noises
Unusual noises coming from an air conditioning system is a very common call that we get. This issue is often related to the fan and could be caused by several different components. First, the fan motor can sometimes go bad and make a grinding sound. This usually means that the bearings in the fan motor need to be cleaned and lubricated; it could also mean that the motor is broken and needs to be replaced. If your AC is squealing it is probably from dirty fan blades and or bad motor bearings. If you’re having any of these issues call the Valley Metro air conditioning repair professionals at Cooper Climate Control.
Not Enough Cooling
If your home isn’t getting enough cooling it could be because the fan isn’t pushing enough air into your home. This could be because the motor is broken or that the fan blades aren’t spinning because the belt is broken.
